PINK

For the month of June, instead of regular daily blog posts, I wrote poems. I haven’t called myself a poet before, though I write many different forms. I knew I’d need some help to get going and keep going for 30 days in a row.

As a prompt, I chose lyrics from the debut album by Harry Styles. He almost titled it “Pink” (the most rock and roll colour), but I imagine the label asked him to go with what the fans already knew: his name.

I copied his lyrics from genius.com; I sorted the lines alphabetically; I chose each day’s starting line by scrolling up and down the list. Except the last day, for which I purposefully chose “la la la la” (the most rock and roll lyric).
